Evelyn Kinkead

October 1, 1929 — August 1, 2023

Evelyn E. Kinkead of Farmington passed away August 1, 2023, at Presbyterian Manor at the age of 93. She was born October 1, 1929 in Iowa City, Iowa to the late E. R. and Myra (Overall) Gault. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Anita Coppedge; daughter, Sandra Wood Harvey Hahn; first husband, Robert E. Wood, and second husband, P. Vincent Kinkead. Evelyn graduated from Farmington High School and lived for several years in the state of Oregon with her first husband. Upon his death, she returned to Farmington as a single mother of their three children. She began working as a dental assistant at Farmington State Hospital. In 1960, she married P. Vincent Kinkead, whom she had met in church. They were blessed to share 53 years together and had two sons. She was a lifelong member of Memorial United Methodist Church, where she poured her heart into many activities and programs. She was known for her baking skills and frequently baked for her church's cookie/candy walk, church welcome bags, rummage sale workers as well as for Habitat for Humanity workdays. She spent several years helping to coordinate bereavement dinners for her church. She was a long-time participant for the Help the Hungry Bake Sale by helping to price items, 'watch over' the cake booth and make her famous 'Puppy Chow', loved by many people. For several years, she volunteered weekly at the Parkland Hospital Gift Shop. She was a 4-H leader for many years, and judged exhibits at the Washington County Fair. She was always quick to respond and find a way to help if she became aware of any problems. Evelyn was proud of, and dedicated to, her family and her church.
