Etta Mae Fox Dement, 84, of Farmington passed away at her home surrounded by a multitude of family on May 8, 2014. She was born August 8, 1929 in North, Missouri, the daughter of the late John and Virgie (Fears) Fox. Also she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Buel Eugene Dement; two brothers, John and Eddie; three sisters, Dorothy, Goldie and Martha. "Mae" as most knew her, was raised in Ellington, Missouri and spent most of her adult life in Farmington. Before moving back to Farmington six years ago, she spent seventeen years in Joplin, Missouri. She was a longtime member (since 1959) of The Farmington First Church of the Nazarene. She was a talented singer who loved to praise the Lord and read her bible. In the community she was known to many as "Momma Mae". She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all. In her spare time, Mae enjoyed playing guitar, gardening and cooking for her family and friends. The proud mother of nine, Mae leaves behind her children, Dr. Oman Eugene (Joyce) Dement, Joyce (Jim) Clement, Carl (Barb) Dement, Janet (Rev. Tim) Morgan, Dennis (Cindy) Dement, Kathy (Sen. Gary) Romine, Ronnie (Denise) Dement, Rev. Rick (Jamie) Dement and Kevin Dement, whom Mae made her home with. She was adored by twenty-two grandchildren, forty-six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved puppies, Mollie and Petie. Friends may call at the Farmington First Church of the Nazarene on Sunday, May 11 from 4 - 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church on Monday, May 12 beginning at 9 a.m. until the service at 10 a.m. with Reverend Art Menard officiating with Reverend Rick Dement, Reverend Tim Morgan and Reverend Scott Dement assisting. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill United Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Hill United Baptist Church Cemetery in care of Cozean Memorial Chapel.
