Elizabeth Farkas of Ste. Genevieve County passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the age of 87 years. She was born on November 1, 1924, in Yugoslavia, daughter of the late George and Eva (Quintus) Westelmayer. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Farkas in 1998, a brother, Nicholas and a sister, Maria. Elizabeth came to the United States in 1949 from Germany with her husband and two small children. She retired in the early 1980's from Velvet Freeze in Kirkwood after 27 years. She was a member of the Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Parish of Weingarten, where she served as a faithful member of the Sodality of Mary. Survivors include her two daughters, Maria Farkas Snyder, Lanie Thomure and husband Robert; and a granddaughter, Jessica. A private graveside service was held at Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery with Father James Dyer officiating. A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady Help of Christians Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2011. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the National Kidney Foundation. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory.
