DESLOGE Eligia "Dub" Earl King, of Desloge, passed away at Presbyterian Manor on May 31, 2016 at the age of 91. He was born at Captain's Creek, Missouri on November 14, 1924 to the late Richard D. King and Anna King. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandparents who raised him, Richard Daniel and Maggie King; his wife of 57 years, Iola (Adams) King; a daughter, Hope Hinkle; son-in-law, Steve Connors and a brother, Earnest Adams.
Eligia attended school in Mine La Motte before going into the Navy where he proudly served during World War II on Okinawa Island. Upon his return to civilian life he married Iola Adams in 1948 and they moved to Desloge. He went to work for the Central School System as maintenance supervisor. After 36 years he retired from the school system and went on to enjoy retirement. He will be remembered for being a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who was always there for his family. Eligia was a very hard worker who could fix anything. He enjoyed the outdoors and liked fishing and camping.
Survivors include his children, Danny (Linda) King and Carole Connors; eight grandchildren, Douglas (Angela) King; Julie (Aaron) Meier; Ann (James) Severs, Dave Connors, Tracie (Alonzo) Jefferson, Chris DeLeal, Terry (Debbie) Huff and Andrew (Kelly) Huff; fourteen great-grandchildren; a special friend, Bonnie Miner; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Thursday, June 2, 2016 from 5 8 p.m. Visitation will resume Friday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Randy Murphy officiating. Interment will follow at Haney Cemetery near Coffman. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Lung Association.
