Edwin "Ed" Earl Breckle, of Farmington, passed away May 3, 2015 at the age of 91. He was born January 19, 1924 in Memphis, TN to the late Joseph Henry and Laura Alta (Hynds) Breckle. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Nedra Mae (Dawson) Breckle in 2011; a daughter, Barbara Kay; a son, Louis Breckle; three grandchildren and all of his brothers and sisters. Ed proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Army. He was always a very hard worker who believed that hard work defined a person. His children are grateful that they learned the hard work ethic from him. His faith was extremely important to him. He was a charter member of Community Christian Church in Farmington. Through the years he had served on various committees for the Church. The fellowship hall at the church was recently re-named Breckle Hall as a tribute to Ed's dedication to the church. Until his retirement Ed worked in the meat packing industry for Krey Packing Company in St. Louis. Previously to that he owned a grocery store and a diner. In the 1980's Ed moved to Ste. Genevieve County where he enjoyed living in the country. He became a very accomplished gardener who enjoyed sharing his bounty with others. Survivors include his children, Glenda (Louis) Warmack, Bobby Breckle, Bruce (Linda) Breckle, Barry (Gail) Breckle and Phyllis Breckle; one step-daughter, Erna Mueller; seventeen grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one step great- granddaughter; two great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Friends may call on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Community Christian Church at 700 North Carleton, Farmington from 9 - 11 a.m. Funeral services will follow in the Church at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ron Starwalt officiating. Interment will be at Hillview Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Ed Breckle Memorial Fund, c/o Community Christian Church of Farmington.
