Ed Bradley, of Farmington, passed away November 15, 2014 at the age of 89. He was born in Flat River on September 9, 1925 to the late Edward and Roma (Dalton) Bradley. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine (Bowyer) Bradley in 1997; an infant daughter, Katherine and two brothers and one sister. Ed attended school in Flat River where after the 11th grade he began working as the manager of the Coca Cola Bottling Company. When WWII broke out he was drafted into the Army and proudly served his country in Germany. At the Battle of the Bulge Ed was taken prisoner by the Germans where he was detained for six months. He was awarded several medals to include a Purple Heart and three Bronze Service Stars. Upon his return to civilian life he was self employed having a juke box route. Later Ed worked as a heavy equipment operator having worked on area highways and also the Tamsauk Reservoir. For a time Ed was an accomplished field trial dog enthusiast and won many trophies with this hobby. In his retirement he enjoyed participating in area veteran's organizations and liked attending dances at the American Legion. He enjoyed gardening and wild birds as well as his favorite canine companion, Cinnamon. Survivors include his loving companion of eleven years, Sharon Poole; a brother, Bob Bradley and a sister, Helen Owens, as well as several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 5 - 7 p.m. Visitation will resume Thursday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Pastor James King officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Farmington. Memorials may be given to the DAV.
