Edward "Dutch" Meinz

FARMINGTON Edward "Dutch" Meinz, passed away January 15, 2018 at Presbyterian Manor in Farmington at the age of 78. He was born December 20, 1939 in Wittenburg, Missouri to the late Rudolph Meinz and Hilda (Koch) Meinz. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a nephew, Matthew Meinz.

Most who knew Edward called him by his nickname "Dutch". In 1954 he was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at the Altenburg Lutheran Church where he had been baptized on December 31, 1939. From November, 1958 to November 1960, he proudly served in the United States Army as a combat engineer. On June 1, 1963 he married Carolyn Boren in a ceremony at New Wells Lutheran Church, Missouri. In the late 1960s they moved to Farmington to make their home where Dutch and Carolyn began their long-time membership at St. Paul Lutheran Church. He had a long career as a construction foreman with Brockmiller Construction Company. For a time, he enjoyed auctioneering as a hobby and a side business. He had been a member of the local Police Auxilliary for many years. In his spare time Dutch enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn; two children, Jennifer Skinner and her husband, Rev. Shannon Skinner and Rev. Jeffrey Meinz and his wife, Amy; eight grandchildren, Alicen Skinner, Zachary Skinner, Gavin Meinz, Jenna Meinz, Julia Meinz, Jadyn Meinz, Gentry Meinz and Garrett Meinz; two brothers, Marvin Meinz and wife, Sandy and Delbert Meinz and wife, Karen; seven nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 5 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the funeral service beginning at 10 a.m. with Reverend Shannon Skinner and Reverend Jeffrey Meinz officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran School Scholarship Fund.
