Edsel Wade

C. Edsel Wade of Farmington fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at his residence, at the age of 86 years. He was born on August 30, 1924, at Farmington, son of the late Viola (Harter) Wade and Clarence Earl Wade. Edsel was a long-time and faithful member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Farmington. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army in World War II and received an Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars and 2 Bronze Arrowheads, a Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 Bronze Service Stars, an Overseas Service Bar and was a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal. Before retirement, Edsel worked as a Insurance Adjuster for the Shelter Insurance Company. He was a charter member of VFW Post #5896 of Farmington. He was also a long-time member of the Focus Board and Real Estate Committee for First State Community Bank. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him and that includes his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Dottie (Mueller) Wade, seven sons, Dan Wade (Sandy), Butch Wade (Janis), Ken Wade (Debbie), John Wade (Yvonne), Steve Wade, Keith Wade (Cindy) and Brad Wade (Patricia), all of Farmington, two brothers, Leroy Wade (Sue) and Don Wade (Anna Jean), all of Farmington, two sisters, Geraldine Sorensen of O'Fallon, MO, and Barbara Cornelison of Naperville, IL, 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive. The family will receive friends at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 4 to 9 p.m. on Monday, June 13. Visitation will resume on Tuesday from 7 to 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Raymond Oge officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be at New Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund or Preferred Hospice.
