Edna Viola Parker

Edna Viola Parker of Iron Mountain passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at the age of 89 years, 11 months, and 27 days. She was born on December 9, 1921, at Arcadia, daughter of the late William Franklin and Nora May (Woods) Usher. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Willis Asher, her second husband, James Parker, two sons, Gary Asher and Charlie Parker, a daughter, Fucia Wilson, a step son, Gerald Parker, four sisters and five brothers. Edna grew up in the Iron Mountain area which was her beloved home all of her life. She became a nurse's aide and was employed for many years at the Baptist Home in Ironton. She was a faithful, charter member of Iron Mountain Assembly of God where she was active in the WM's and led the youth group as well. She was a Bible scholar and pastored a church for a time in Ironton called Victory Church. She enjoyed doing crafts and quilting in her spare time. Serving the Lord and helping others were Edna's passions. Edna is survived by her daughter, Ladena Moore; son, Elmer Jesse Asher; Step-Son Ed Parker; twelve grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Maggie Skaggs; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 8. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Iron Mountain Assembly of God with the Reverend Matthew Prihoda officiating. Interment will follow at Iron Mountain Cemetery.
