Eddie Thomure

September 20, 1936 — January 18, 2021

FARMINGTON - Eddie Thomure of Farmington passed away on January 18, 2021 at his residence at the age of 84. He was born on September 20, 1936 in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri to the late Denis and Fannie Lee (DeWeese) Thomure. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Bessie Marie (Ramsey) Thomure, his siblings, Lorraine Barnes, Loretta Bowyer, Phillip Thomure, Joy Johnson, and Herbert Thomure. Eddie is survived by his children, Jeanne (Angie Richards) Sumpter, Julie (Steve) Summers, Patti (Lance) Krause and Steven (Kimberly) Thomure, all of Farmington, his grandchildren, Ericka Sumpter, Kevin Sumpter, Chad Summers, Andy Summers, Whitney Summers, Bryan Krause, Brayden Krause, Braxden Krause, Garrett Thomure, Sarah Mills, and Jessica Anderson, great grandchildren, Xander Voyles, Max Voyles, Cedric Sumpter, Madelyn Sumpter, Hudson Krause, Marlow Krause, Kailey Summers, Riley Summers, Conner Summers, Faith Gamlin, Alexia Gamlin and Marshall Anderson, his sister Elizabeth Meuse of Little Rock, AR, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Eddie learned at a very young age the necessity of hard work. He started working at a restaurant washing dishes at the age of 8, standing on a milk crate to reach the sink, to help out his family. He viewed every task, big or small, very seriously and took pride in accomplishing everything he set out to do with the best of his ability. As it turned out, there was almost nothing he couldn't do and actually did it close to perfection. He was the go to "fix it" guy for his family and even built homes, including the one he and Bessie lived in. He instilled the hard work ethic in his children and set an example on how to take care of their families. His hard work continued through his life; he often worked three jobs to allow Bessie to stay home and raise their children. Eddie enjoyed taking his children fishing, taught them to water ski and in the winter snow, pulled them around on a sled. He and Bessie enjoyed square dancing with the "Flutterwheels" for many years and were sad to have to give it up after his hip surgery. Eddie also enjoyed flying RC airplanes. He belonged to the Mineral Area Modeling Association Flying Club and flew at the St. Joe Flying Field. His family enjoyed joining him at the club picnics to watch him show off his skills. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Farmington, Just over four months ago, Eddie lost his loving wife. This was a tremendous loss for him and he struggled to adjust. He loved the time with his family, but longed to be with Bessie again. We know that they are happily reunited and square dancing in Heaven. We miss them both so much but are at peace that they are in God's loving arms.
