Dr. Kent Joseph Sadler

STE. GENEVIEVE - Dr. Kent Joseph Sadler, D.D.S., of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri passed away, Monday, February 17, 2014 at the Jefferson Mercy Medical Center in Festus, Missouri, at the age of 72. He was born September 25, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah, son of the late Clifford Dewey and Zelma LaVon (Nott) Sadler. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Merrill Sadler. Kent grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Molecular Biology. He later attended Washington University School of Dentistry in St. Louis, graduating in 1973. Prior to attending college, he served in the Utah National Guard Military Police Division and as a Mormon missionary to Japan for two and half years. In 1973, he opened his dental practice in Ste. Genevieve, practicing for over 40 years before retiring in July of 2012. During that time he became known as a kind and generous businessman always willing to help those less fortunate. He was a founding member and past president of the Ste. Genevieve Rotary Club and particularly enjoyed being involved in the foreign student exchange program. He was a proud and active member of the Ste. Genevieve HAMM Radio Operators Club and spent countless hours "tuning in" on his radio. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints belonging to the Farmington Church where he served as a past Bishop, Boy Scout Leader and held numerous other leadership roles in the church and district. Kent and Penny had just celebrated their 50th Valentine's Day together and would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this coming September 11th. He will be missed by his wife - Penny Marjean (Clark) Sadler of Ste. Genevieve - two sons; Darren R. Sadler of Harrison, Arkansas and Brian S. Sadler of Ste. Genevieve - daughter; Kemmi L. Sadler and her spouse Cameron Sprague currently assigned to the U.S. Embassy in El Salvador - grandchildren; Camden, Kent Joseph and Kaylynn Sadler - brothers and sisters; Clifford D. Sadler, Jr, Lavon Bartlett, Melvin K. Sadler, Shirley Cox and Janis Mabey all of Utah and numerous other relatives, friends and neighbors. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Friday, February 21, 2014. Visitation will resume on Saturday at the Farmington Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located at 709 S. Henry Street, from 10-11 a.m followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m with Bishop Don Blum, Jr. presiding. Interment will be in Knights of Pythias Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Rotary International Polio Plus Program. Arrangements are under the direction of the Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory.
