Dorothy Willa Johnson

Dorothy Willa Johnson passed away January 1, 2017 at St. Joe Manor in Bonne Terre at the age of 95. She was born in Leadwood on March 31, 1921 to the late Loman and Belle (Gillam) Jinkerson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold P. Johnson; a daughter, Lucy Hale; and two brothers, Howard Jinkerson and Guy Jinkerson.

Dorothy was a long-time member of the Leadwood Methodist Church and later a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Farmington. She worked in the office of the Trimfoot Manufacturing Company for twenty-five years. She also enjoyed working as a volunteer in the gift shop of Parkland Hospital and at Memorial United Methodist Church office. She devoted her retirement years to her husband and family, especially the grandkids. A good friend to people of all ages, Dorothy had many friends. In her spare time, she was an avid Cardinal baseball fan and she enjoyed crocheting, cross-stitching, music and listening to audible books offered by the Wolfner Talking Book and Braille Library.

Survivors include two daughters, Janet (James) Holdman and Judy (Russ) Qualls; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; three nieces and a host of good friends.

Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Thursday, January 5 from 5 8 p.m. The service time is at 10 a.m. on Friday in the Cozean Chapel. Interment will follow at Leadwood Cemetery.
