Dorothy Rector

DOE RUN - Dorothy Rector, of Doe Run passed away peacefully in her home on May 21, 2016 at the age of 87. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on July 10, 1928 to the late John M. Howell and Stella May (Knight) Howell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Rector in 2005; a daughter, Judy Lotz; two sons, Jerry Woodfin and William E. Rector and one great grandson, Shon Lancaster. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John and Donald Howell and three sisters, Delores Woodfin, Helen Percival and Beatrice Cauley.

Dorothy worked at Camelot Nursing Center as a CNA for many years. She loved quilting, cooking and holding large holiday dinners for her family. An avid reader she also loved gardening and flowers. Dorothy was a lady of great faith who enjoyed reading the Bible. Her family meant the world to her and she cherished every minute spent with them. Dorothy often remarked that she really enjoyed living on Stono Mountain.

Survivors include three sons, Darrell Lloyd Rector, Jackie Lane (Marie) Rector and James Leeman (Rita) Woodfin, Jr.; one sister, Rosella Mattingly; twelve grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.

A memorial gathering will be held at Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 1 p.m. Immediately following the memorial gathering interment will be held at Pendleton Cemetery in Doe Run. View the tribute video and share your memories and condolences at cozeanfuneralhome.com.
