SPRINGFIELD- Dorothy Dot' Pearl (nee Rion) Westmeyer, entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on Saturday, December 15, 2012. She was 98 years old and resided in Springfield, MO at the time of her death. Dorothy was born on February 15, 1914 in Farmington, MO daughter of the late Maude (nee Crawford) and John Rion. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by five brothers, Everett, Earl, Howard, John M., and Warren and three sisters, Nola (Hinkle), Maggie (Kollmeyer), Velma (Lober), her beloved husband Ted Francis Westmeyer to whom she was married on November 13, 1938, and son, Thomas Joe Westmeyer. Dorothy was one of the original working women' who worked outside of the home most of her life. Her longest term employment, however, was as an Insurance Clerk and Licensed Funeral Dirctor at Cozean Funeral Home in Farmington where she worked for more than 40 years. Outside of work, her life was filled with many wonderful activities including writing poetry, drawing, telling jokes, doing yard work, watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball games on television and spending time with family and her many friends. Until she moved to Springfield, MO, she actively attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Farmington where she belonged to Lutheran Ladies Aid, Lutheran Womens Missionary League and Sarah Bible Class. Dorothy is survived by her son, Teddy, daughter-in-law, Elaine, grandson, Christopher Thomas and his wife, Sheila, granddaughter, Carrie Meade (Burke) and her husband, Jim, grandson, Jeffrey Rion and his wife, Arica, great-granddaughters Margo Linda Benkelman, Milly Glynn Benkelman, Madison Ann and Olivia Rion and great-grandsons, Chase Hillerman and Hunter Rion; beloved sister Louise (Rion) Cottam; numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. The Family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Cozean Memorial Chapel in Farmington. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, December 20that 10:00 am at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Farmington with Pastor James King officating. Burial will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens.
