Dorothy Mae Yount

Dorothy Mae Yount of Ellisville, MO passed away on November 14, 2024, at the age of 95. She was born on January 3, 1929, in Doniphan, MO. Dorothy was the daughter of Adolph D. Wylie and Cora Miles Cates Wylie. Dorothy had two brothers and two sisters.

Dorothy married John William Yount on January 11, 1947. John and Dorothy had six children, Richard M. Yount (Jeanne), Patricia A. Mosher (Gary), Steven D. Yount (Rachel), Debra K. Filla, Kathleen S. Orr (Jeff) and Kimberly R. Vest. Dorothy and John have nineteen grandchildren and thirty-three great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was a member of the Bethel United Baptist Church. Dorothy and her husband, John, spent many years singing gospel music together. They enjoyed traveling to many destinations with their singing ministry. Dorothy worked at Sportsman’s Park and old Busch Stadium on the cleaning crew for twenty-three years. Dorothy and John lived in Arnold, MO for many years until they moved to Fredericktown, MO after retirement. Dorothy moved to St. Charles County, MO after John passed in 2013 to be close to her family.

Visitation will be held at Cozean Memorial Chapel beginning at 1p.m. on Monday, November 18 until the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the Cozean Chapel. Interment will follow at Doe Run Memorial Cemetery. Share your condolences and memories cozeanfuneralhome.com
