Dorothy M. Miller of Farmington passed away on Monday, July 5, 2010, at her residence at the age of 90 years. She was born on November 27, 1919, at Taylorville, IL, the daughter of the late Mary Frances (Cornwell) and Thomas E. Cowen In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Louie E. Miller in 2009. Dorothy was as an educator with post graduate training as a reading specialist and taught the majority of her career in the Hazelwood Public School District. She herself was a lifelong avid reader and an advocate for education, having encouraged many young students to excel. She participated as a member of the Retired Teachers' Association. Survivors include her nephew, John C. Cowen; her sister-in-law, Eleanore Miller; her Godchildren, Beth Horton and Greg Horton, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of good friends. Graveside services for Mrs. Miller will be held on Saturday, July 10, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Polk Cemetery in Iron County, Missouri under the direction of the Cozean Memorial Chapel, with the Reverend Bill Belmar officiating.
