Dorothy M. Harris

Dorothy M. Harris of Grapevine, Texas, formerly of Farmington, passed away Friday, April 15, 2011, at the Autumn Leaves Nursing Center of Grapevine, at the age of 87 years. She was born on Christmas Day 1923 at St. Louis, daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Spitz) Slamp. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters. Dorothy was a long-time and faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Farmington where she attended until she and Ray moved to Texas a little over a year ago. She worked for many years in Housekeeping at Presbyterian Manor, from where she retired. In her spare time she enjoyed vegetable gardening, bike riding and spending time with her family and friends. Dorothy will be missed by all those who knew and loved her, including her husband, Raymond K. Harris of Farmington, three sons, Raymond (Susan ) Harris of Grapevine, TX, Ronald (Alta) Harris of Farmington, and Richard (Cindy) Harris of Ironton, a daughter, Darlene Hoevelkamp of Laguna Woods, CA, eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and a large host of other relatives and friends. Friends may call on the family at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2010. Visitation will resume on Wednesday from 7 to 11 am. with a funeral service at 11 am. Burial will be in Pendleton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to Masses in her memory.
