Doris Evelyn Wiley of Farmington passed away peacefully on July 14, 2011, in her home with her family by her side. She was born March 16, 1928, to the late Jesse W. and Goldie (Adams) Coale. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Homer Edward Wiley in 2010. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Glenda Bouchard and her husband Pat; her brother, Robert Coale; her sister-in-law, Sharon Coale and nephew, Scott Coale; her sister-in-law, Erma Gallagher and her husband Toots ; her brothers-in-law, Willis Hulsey, Duck Wiley and his wife Melba, Bill Govro and nephew, Steve Wiley. Doris grew up in the Desloge and Esther area and graduated high school in 1946 from Esther High School. She married the love of her life, Homer on March 12, 1949. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, sewing and playing cards with friends. She was an avid reader who was happy relaxing with a good book. In earlier years she was a Brownie Scout leader, a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and a member of the VFW Post 5896 Womens Auxiliary. Most important in her life was her family with whom she instilled solid values and many great traditions which will continue for generations to come. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Serenity Hospice and a special thank you to our gift from Heaven, Robyn. Survivors include two daughters, Nancy (Mrs. Bob) Gierse and Susan (Mrs. Doug) Pratt all of Farmington; five grandchildren, Jessica (Mrs. Vince) Kauflin, Zach Pratt and Jessica, Tessa Pratt and Chris, Rebekah Smith all of Farmington, and Alex and Jennifer Gierse of Cape Girardeau; five great-grandchildren, Rhett and Rory Kauflin, Landyn Pratt and Jonathan and Avery Smith all of Farmington; a brother, Tom Coale of Omaha, NE; three special nieces, Beth (Mrs. Gary) Bracken, Julie (Mrs. Rich) Gau, all of St. Louis, and Rhonda (Mrs. Brian) Coale-Handlos of Omaha, NE; and one dear cousin, Jo (Mrs. Don) Copeland of the State of Iowa; five sisters-in-law, Nellie Wiley, Babe Hulsey, Barbara Govro, Marilyn Wiley and Jetty (Mrs. Lloyd) Reese all of Farmington; brother-in-law, Pete Wiley and wife, Mildred; and numerous nieces, nephews and many good friends. Doris enriched every life she touched and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 17 in the Cozean Chapel from 5 to 9 pm. Visitation will resume on Monday morning beginning at 7 am until the service beginning at 11 am in the Cozean Chapel. Interment will follow at Parkview Cemetery.
