Doris Alberta West King

FARMINGTON DORIS SHOULTS WEST KING of Farmington, entered into eternal rest on February 7, 2022, at Parkland Health Center at the age of 93. She was born on July 17, 1928, in Washington County, Missouri, to the late Otis and Ellen (Trokey) Shoults. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Charles Quentin King of Farmington, her two brothers, Chester Howard Shoults and Lloyd Shoults, grandson, David Swanguarim, great granddaughter, Mabel Noelle, and son-in-law, Dr. Dale Derby. Doris is survived by her five children, Vivian (West) and Neal Ives of Park Hills; Linda (West) Derby of Owasso, OK; Rodney and Linda (Hogan) West of Lake Saint Louis; Paula (West) and Dale Barton of Park Hills; and Jeff and Suzette (Pousson) West of Chesterfield, MO; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and five great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by nieces Janet Whitaker (George) of Potosi, MO, Sandra Hutchings (Tony) of Potosi, MO, and special great niece, Sandy Halbert (Sean), of Potosi, MO, and nephews Lloyd Shoults (Irma) of Potosi MO, and Steven Loughary (Pam) of Caledonia, MO, and numerous family members, in-laws, and friends. Doris was a homemaker and a wonderful wife and mother. She enjoyed people and particularly those who liked to laugh and have fun. She had a great sense of humor and never met a stranger. She had many friends, and she was loyal to those friendships. She owned and operated a beauty shop in her home in Doe Run, MO, for 40 years. She retired from this profession at the age of 80. She enjoyed work of any kind and particularly enjoyed canning vegetables from her large gardens. She was a servant to many and freely gave her time and resources to those in need. She was creative. Doris loved to embroidery and make quilt tops. She loved music and enjoyed singing. She was a life-long member of the VFW Womens Auxiliary in Farmington, and at the age of 92, she became the "oldest" new member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) with the Sarah Barton Murphy Chapter in Farmington. Doris made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as a young girl and rededicated her life to the Lord in later years. During her final days on earth, she boldly witnessed to those around her. She lived a full, adventurous , wonderful life and will be sorely missed by her family and all who knew her. A visitation celebrating Doriss life will be held on Saturday, February 26th, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm until time of service at 1:00 pm at Cozean Memorial Chapel.
