Donna Sue Rickus

FARMINGTON - Donna Sue (Zimmer) Rickus of Farmington passed into eternal life, Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the Southbrook Nursing Center in Farmington at the age of 81 years 10 months, and 10 days. She was born August 14, 1933 in Ste. Genevieve County, daughter of the late Edward Adam and Della Arizona (Barnes) Zimmer and lived most of her life in and around Farmington. She graduated from Ste. Genevieve High School in 1951. On January 23, 1954 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Bryan Rickus. He preceded her in death on September 19, 2001. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother Eber Zimmer, five sisters, Goldie Holst, Eleanor Huck, Norma Wilson, Florence Roth, and June Govro, and two nephews Mike Huck and Rusty Townsend. Donna was baptized into the Christian Faith as an infant at St. Paul Lutheran Church on November 26, 1933 and was confirmed in that faith on March 30, 1947, her memory verse being: "He died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto Him which died for them and rose again. 2nd Corinthians 5:15" She was a life-long member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was active in many organizations, including LWML, Women's Club and the Ruth Circle Bible Study Group. She was employed for many years as the office manager at Edwards & Plumlee Theatres and also worked in the Accounting Department at Presbyterian Manor from where she eventually retired. Following retirement she continued to volunteer at Presbyterian Manor until her declining health forced her to stop. She leaves to mourn her passing two sisters, Jean (& Gene) Allen and Joann Henderson, three sisters-in-law Faylee Townsend, Margie (& Tony) Botkin and Alma Zimmer all of Farmington. She also leaves a large number of "Favorite" nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. She never tired of seeing them and sharing life stories with them. She was a kind, loving, and generous lady, a very special sister, aunt, cousin and friend to so many. Her family's hearts are broken at her passing. Visitation for Mrs. Donna Sue Rickus will be on Tuesday June 30, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Wednesday after 7 a.m. and continue until 10. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Farmington with Pastor James T. King officiating. Interment will be in the Copenhagen Cemetery near Farmington.
