Donald Eugene "Don" Dawson of Magalia, CA and formerly of Farmington, passed away July 28, 2013 at the age of 65. He was born March 7, 1948 in Delassus son of the late Richard Lee and Alma Jeannette (Fraser) Dawson. Don grew up in the Farmington area and graduated from Farmington High School in 1966. During his high school days, he played football for the Knights as a full back. Soon after graduation he enlisted in the U. S. Air Force where he proudly served his country for more than twelve years. After he was discharged in 1979 at Travis Air Force Base in California he decided to make his home in the state of California. He went to work for Phillips Oil Company where he worked until his retirement in 2011. In his spare time he was a collector of guns and stamps. Don had a great love for animals and also enjoyed hours spent on his computer. Survivors include his daughter, Angel Dawson and husband, Eric; step son, Scott Dawson; three grandsons, Justin, Jakob and Jessey; sisters, Ida Taylor and Becky Goodman; three brothers, Charles Dawson, Guy Dawson and James Dawson and wife, Diana; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. Also surviving is his companion, Charise Ceballos. A memorial service will be held at the Farmington Presbyterian Church on Thursday, August 22 at 10 a.m. with Reverend Bob Bullock officiating. Inurnment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 2 p.m. in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
