Dick E. Royer

June 30, 1936 — May 1, 2022

FARMINGTON Dick E. Royer, of Farmington, entered into eternal rest on May 1, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 85. He was born on June 30, 1936, in Calhoun County, Illinois to the late James Luther and Jessie (Wolverton) Royer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Jackie Royer, Phyllis Wright, and Craig Royer. Dick proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from McDonnell Douglas after 34 years of employment. Dick was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and served in the Mens Group. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge 1765 of Farmington and past member of St. Francois Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf with his friends. He and Ann enjoyed volunteering at marathons in support of Cure JM which holds a special place in their hearts. Dick loved his family and especially adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. While his children were growing up, he enjoyed spending time with his family in the summer usually on the softball and baseball fields as a coach for both his children in Khoury League. Fall was spent on the football field as Business Manager for Rons JFL football team. In high school and college, you could see him walking up and down the sidelines of the baseball, softball, and football fields cheering on Ron and Jo Ellen. He never missed a game or a swim meet of Jo Ellens. After retirement, it meant more time for his grandchildren and he enjoyed Claires soccer games, Matts hockey games, Lyndsies softball games, and Zachary on the baseball and football field. Dick loved to travel and take cruises throughout the U.S. and different countries. He had a "bucket list" and he finished that list in 2019 alongside his family, traveling out West to visit Montana, the last of the 50 states to see. Dick is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ann (Evens) Royer, his children, Ron Royer of Osage Beach and Jo Ellen (Michael) Smith of Farmington, his grandchildren, Lyndsie (Michael) Honeycutt, Staff Sergeant Zachary (Abby) Smith, Matthew Royer, and Claire Royer, his great grandchildren, Jovie Smith, Vivian Smith, Gloria Smith, and Josephine Honeycutt, his brother, Phillip (Carol) Royer of Prescott, AZ, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Cozean Memorial Chapel.
