Dewey Anderson of Farmington passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at Community Manor, at the age of 100 years. He was born on October 19, 1908, in Irondale, son of the late Charles Wilbur and Eva Jerusha (Linza) Anderson. He was also preceded in death by his lovely wife, Mae M. (McGhee)Anderson, a twin brother, Louie, a sister, Stella Ketcherside, and a foster daughter, Velma Sutton. Mr. Anderson was employed by the Moloney Electric Co. of St. Louis, MO. He was a Christian for over 76 years and was always active in the churches where he attended, 40 years in the Lafayette Park Church of the Nazarene in St. Louis, MO, 25 years in the Park Hills Church and was a member of the Farmington Church of the Nazarene at his passing. His Christian Ministry included: teaching, song and choir leader, soloist, lay speaker, song writer and was also involved in a shut-in-ministry. However, he often said that no doubt the highlight of his entire ministry, was when he was the teacher of the Young Peoples Bible Class of the Lafayette Park Church in St. Louis from 1949 to 1966. During that time frame of 17 years, he ministered to over 1500 young people. He lived a very active life of retirement for 31 years enjoying many hobbies. He and his wife, Mae were the Assistant Tour Directors of the Prime Time, which included Old Mexico and Canada. His other hobbies were the writing and taping of Christian lectures, short stories and songs, which were especially fun and rewarding. At 80 years of age, playing chord piano and keyboard was indeed a new experience for which he did enjoy so much. He is survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family will receive friends at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2009. Visitation will resume 7 to 11 a.m. on Saturday. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at the Farmington Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Michael Trammell officiating, assisted by the Rev Terry Turner and the Rev. Tim Morgan. Burial will follow at Parkview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Farmington Church of the Nazarene Youth & Childrens Ministries fund.
