Dennis Clarke Young

Dennis Clarke Young, of Farmington, passed away May 18, 2014 in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 76. He was born February 5, 1938 in St. Francois County, the son of the late Louis and Lottie May (Bayless) Young. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Young and his step-mother, Goldie Young. Dennis was a graduate of Flat River High School and went on to serve in the National Guard and later in the U. S. Army. He was employed with McDonnell Douglas Corporation as an electrical technician for more than 35 years. After his retirement in 1988 he enjoyed his hobby of jewelry making and rock collecting as the president of the McDonnell Douglas Gem and Mineral Society. He was a founding member of the Wolf Creek Fire Department. He was on the board and helped form Fine Labs in Piedmont, Missouri. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and attended First Baptist Church of Farmington. In his spare time he liked to fish and hunt. On November 4, 1961, he was united in marriage to Vernetta June McDaniels who survives. In addition to his wife, Dennis is survived by son Johnie (Lara)Young of Affton, Missouri, sisters, Jackie (Al) Gill of Glendale, Arizona, Shirley (David) Thorne of Farmington, Lisa (John) Barry of St. Louis, and Judi (Rich) Kester of Brockwell, Arkansas; and two brothers, Danny (Donna) Young of Bonne Terre and David (Lana) Darnell of Desloge. The family would like to give a special thanks to LaDon & Rebecca of Amedisys Home Health Care, and also to all the close friends that helped with Dennis over the past few years. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel. Visitation will resume on Wednesday morning beginning at 7 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Dr. William Miller officiating. Interment will be at Hillview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests any memorials be made to Wolf Creek Fire Department.
