FARMINGTON – Doris Lee “Dee” Schlosser passed away on June 20, 2024, at Southbrook Skilled Nursing at the age of 81. She was born in St Louis on August 20, 1942, to the late Owen Fortner and Ida (Ceresia) Fortner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Fortner.
Dee grew up and spent the majority of her life in St. Louis. She owned and operated a cleaning business for many years. She was also a foster parent for a number of years, having fostered over 200 children through the years. She loved horses and in her earlier years enjoyed playing softball as well. Watching Cardinal Baseball was also a favorite pastime.
Dee loved and cherished her family very much. She had three children, Dawn Ceresia, Michael (Angie) Schlosser and Mary (Don) Weiss, all of Farmington; seven grandchildren Amanda (Jake) Dugal, Kimberly Jackson, Hayley (Brett) Balzer, Matthew (April) Weiss, Kristopher Schlosser, Collin (Jessica) Schlosser and Mickayla (Garrett) Callahan; 9 great grandchildren with one more on the way. Special friend and caregiver, Brenda Creemons.
The family would like to especially express their gratitude to all the staff at Southbrook who cared for Dee in such a compassionate manner.
There will be a memorial service at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Friday, June 28, 2024, beginning at ten a.m. with Dr. Darlene Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Knights of Pythias Cemetery. View the tribute video and share your memories at cozeanfuneralhome.com.
