Deborah R. Bowden, 59, of Farmington passed away June 28, 2013, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born October 2, 1953 to the late Donald Richardson and Edith Richardson, who survives. In addition to her father, Deborah was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Bonds, and a brother, Darrell Richardson. Also, a dear sister-in-law, Linda Richardson of Sedalia, Missouri passed just hours after Deborah. A native of the Lilbourn area, Deborah graduated from Lilbourn High School in 1971. She was a long-time employee of the U. S. Postal Service, having served as Postmaster at Knob Lick and Old Appleton. On November 20, 1980 she married the love of her life, Leroy "Lee" Bowden, in a ceremony in Poplar Bluff. She and Lee moved to Farmington in 1992 where they raised their family. She will be most remembered for being a very fair and loving person. An avid reader, Deborah also enjoyed traveling and gardening. Survivors, in addition to her mother and her husband, include one son, Ryan Lee Bowden of Tempe, AZ; sisters Brenda Ellis and her husband, Junior, and Michelle Robertson and her husband, Eugene; one brother, Gary Don Richardson; several nieces and nephews; a special sister-in-law, Myrtie Small and her husband, Scott; her life-long, good friend, JoAnn Brannan and husband, Jim; her dear cousin, Laura Schuerger. Also surviving are a host of cousins, extended family and friends. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel in Farmington on Tuesday, July 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. On Wednesday, July 3 a visitation will be held from 11-12:30 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Poplar Bluff followed by funeral services at 12:30 p.m. with Reverend Jerry Moore officiating.
