Debbie Sue Smith

FARMINGTON Debbie Smith, 60, of Farmington, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016 in Bollinger County from injuries sustained in an accident. She was born February 13, 1956 in Bonne Terre to the late Vernon Carl Barton, Jr. and Mary Ruth (Rickard) Barton Moon. In addition to her mother and father Debbie was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Mark Smith and a brother, Leo Stephen Nicholson.

Debbie graduated from Farmington High School in 1974 and went on to attend beautician and cosmetology school. She later taught classes at Missouri Beauty Academy. She was a third generation instructor at the academy which was owned by her mother and grandmother. Debbie was a dedicated and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with family. She was a fun loving individual who enjoyed kayaking and being in the outdoors.

She is survived by her two sons, Aaron Smith and Nathan Smith; one beloved granddaughter, Taylor Smith; brothers, Scott (Sherrie) Barton and Doug (Trish) Barton and a sister, Tamara Reece; her close friend and step-mother, Berta Barton Drye; several nieces and nephews as well as extended family.

Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 4 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday beginning at 12 noon until the service in the Cozean Chapel at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill United Baptist Church Cemetery in Ste.
