David R. Dennis

BONNE TERRE David R. Dennis of Bonne Terre passed away May 1, 2022 at his home at the age of 71. He was born in Kirksville, Missouri on June 6, 1950 to the late Willie Junior Dennis and Martha Colleen (Dunseith) Dennis. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandparents Anne and William Dennis; Mary and Robert Dunseith; his uncle, Robert Wayne Dunseith and his brother-in-law, Jimmy Cunningham. David graduated in 1968 from Moberly High School in Moberly, Missouri. He went on to attend Moberly Area Junior College where he obtained an Associate Degree. In 1971 he began a 31-year career with the Missouri Department of Corrections. He retired in 2002 as a Vocational Enterprise Supervisor. In his spare time, he enjoyed cooking and he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed hotrods and fixing up cars. Davids family will remember him as a very intelligent, meticulous guy who was kind and generous and would do anything for his kids. Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Jackie (Cunningham) Dennis; a son, Todd William (Michelle) Dennis; a daughter, Kristy Dennis; a brother, Richard William (Cathy) Dennis; stepchildren, John (Lisa) Hand, Jim (Jeni) Hand and Jason Hand; grandchildren, Cheyenne Dennis, Paige Dennis, Hailey Dennis, Tessa Hand, Aubrey Hand, Jade Hand, Dalton Wheeless, Noah Hand, Maggie Hand, Michael Hand and Grace Hand; and a special aunt, Sherry Dunseith. He also leaves behind his special feline companions, Pumpkin and Smokey. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 5, 2022, beginning at 1 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel followed by the funeral at 2 p.m. with Reverend Rocky Good officiating. Interment will follow at Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Farmington. Memorials may be made in Davids name to St. Jude Childrens Hospital or to Paralyzed Veterans of America.
