David Paul Ransom

David Paul Ransom of Farmington passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, May 13, 2011, at the age of 70 years. He was born on September 11, 1940, at Farmington, son of the late Mayford and Geneva (Center) Ransom. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jackie (Phillips) Ransom. A life-long resident of the Farmington area, Dave as many knew him, had been in the home improvement business for more than 40 years. He was president and owner of R & R Siding of Farmington. He will be remembered most for his ability to tell stories and to make friends with everyone he met. He genuinely enjoyed his customers whom he regarded as some of his best friends. He was a devoted and loving father and grandfather to his three daughters, three grandchildren and two great-granddaughters, with one great-grandson on the way. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling and spending quality time with his family and friends. Dave is survived by his loving companion of fourteen years, Wanda (Alexander) Yow; three daughters, Lisa Sitler of Mobile, AL, Davey Effrein and Kathy (Mrs. Mike) Hinkebein both of Farmington; three grandchildren, Dustin Gray and wife Gayle of DeSoto, Amy Johnson and Sam Effrein of Farmington; two great-granddaughters, Gracelynn and Clara Ann; a brother, Donald Ransom and Zoe Ann Eidson of St. Louis; a niece, Kelly (Mrs. Adam) Buckley and their daughter, Olivia. Also surviving are two step-children, Angie McDonald of St. Louis and Van Radford of the State of California; a host of extended family and many good friends. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 3 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17. Visitation will resume Wednesday from 7 until 10 a.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the First Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Roger Hogan officiating. Interment will be at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Farmington.
