FARMINGTON - Darrell David Thomas, 89, formerly of Park Hills, passed away July 30, 2012 at Asbrook Manor. He was born August 15, 1922 at Flat River, son of the late Clarence E. "Pat" and Elba M. (Hulsey) Thomas. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Edelene M. (Wampler) Thomas, two daughters Susan D. Thomas and Diana S. Thomas, son Terry L. Thomas, sisters Beulah Mauk and Eula Mae Gruhala, and brother-in-laws Harold Mauk and Frank Gruhala. Mr. Thomas proudly served his country during WWII in the Army. He was a member of the Harvest Christian Center Church. He was a retired miner, having worked many years for the St. Joseph Lead Company.In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, spending time out doors, and being a "hobbie" carpenter. He is survived by three grandsons, Kevin (wife, Janing) Blackwell of Bonne Terre, Tony Thomas of French Village, and Jimmy Thomas of St. Louis. Also are surviving are his sisters, Helen Govreau, Marlyn Mauk, and Madonna (husband, Jim) Ransom, brother Paul Thomas, and brother-in-law billy Mauk. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Friday, August 3, 2012, at the St. Francois Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Pastor Dwight Jones officiating. Entombment will follow in the St. Francois Memorial Park Mausoleum at Bonne Terre. Memorials to charity of one's choice are greatly appreciated.
