Dale (Howell) Henderson of Farmington passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at the age of 96. She was born on January 21, 1917, in Higginsville, Missouri, daughter of the late Claud Ivan and Bessie (Youngs) Howell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Howell Chinn and two brothers, Virgil Howell and Joseph Howell. Dale grew up in Lafayette County, Missouri and graduated from Lexington High School in 1935. She completed certification as a Dental Assistant from Webster College in Los Angeles, California in 1942. On January 3, 1943 she married the love of her life, Robert James Henderson, Sr. in El Paso, Texas where he was stationed before being deployed to the South Pacific during World War II. During the war, Dale lived in Kansas City where she assembled aircraft for Pratt and Whitney and inspected bullets for Lake City Ammunitions Plant. In 1949 she and Robert moved to Farmington where they made their home and raised a family. As well as being a homemaker, Dale worked for 19 years at Roberts Office Supply. She was a faithful and long time member of Farmington Presbyterian Church where she served a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the church choir, Presbyterian Women and former chairperson of Circle 4. Dale enjoyed being a wife and mother, keeping house and gardening. Survivors include her beloved husband of 70 years, Robert James Henderson, Sr.; two sons, Robert James Henderson, Jr. of Kirkwood and David Allen Henderson and wife, Cynthia, of Overland Park, Kansas; one granddaughter, Katherine Grace Henderson also of Overland Park; one sister, Claudine Howell Trent of Lexington, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Sunday, October 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday, October 14 at 2 p.m. at Farmington Presbyterian Church with Reverend Paul Bembower officiating.
