FARMINGTON Cruz Dolores Aponte Ortiz of Farmington, entered into eternal rest on February 5, 2022, at Parkland Health Center at the age of 92. She was born on May 3, 1929, in Santurce, Puerto Rico, to the late Benigno and Maria (Ortiz) Aponte. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carmelo Velazquez Calderon Sr., her daughter, Lizzette Woodard, her son, Carmelo Velazquez Calderon Jr., her granddaughter, Lillian Barbosa, her great grandson, Adam Marquez, and her great granddaughter, Milady Mercado, and siblings, Isaura, Jose, Conrado, Lucerminda, Christina, Geraldo, Lydia, and Freddy. Cruz is survived by her daughters, Lillian (husband, Joseph) Borras of Converse, TX and Leila Velazquez of Farmington, her sons, Luis Velazquez of Brooklyn, NY and Anthony Velazquez of Hackettstown, NJ, 14 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in laws, and friends. Cruz was a faithful Christian of Pentecostal faith and loved listening and singing worship music. She also enjoyed watching soap operas but most of all she adored her family and loved spending time and laughing with her grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. A visitation celebrating Cruzs life will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2022, from 4:00pm until time of service at 7:00pm officiated by Bob Schembre at Cozean Memorial Chapel.
