Clyde Clifford Winter Iii

Clyde Clifford Winter III of Jackson passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2009, at Jefferson Barracks Skilled Nursing Facility in St. Louis, at the age of 72 years. He was born on April 5, 1937, at Farmington, son of the late Clyde Clifford and Helen Elizabeth (Dunn) Winter. Mr. Winter was currently a member of Capaha Antique Car Club of Cape Girardeau and was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Jackson. He enjoyed rebuilding classic cars, especially his 1950 Ford. In earlier days, Clyde was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. After graduation from Farmington High School Clyde served his country in the U. S. Army from 1960 to 1966. For many years, he worked in insurance for various companies as an independent agent. On May 23, 1959, Clyde married the love of his life, Elizabeth "Betty" Simms, who survives. In May 2009, Clyde and Betty celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. In addition to his wife, Betty, Clyde is survived by a daughter, Annette Lynne Gross and her husband William of Rockford, IL, a son, Kevin Wade Winter and his wife Tiffany of Oran, MO; four grandchildren, Devin Wade Winter of Gordonville, MO, Colten Reed Winter of Oran, Danielle Stephanie Gross and Lindsay Jessica Gross, both of Rockford, IL ; a sister, Madeline Pauline Winter of Farmington; his mother-in-law, Joyce Simms, six brothers-in-law and sisters-in law, Ronald and Eva Simms of Farmington; Harold Jr. and Connie Simms of Wildwood, MO, Larry and Salley Allen of Las Vegas, NV; and a Godson, Donald Eugene Simms of Farmington. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and acquaintances also survive. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2009. Visitation will resume on Tuesday beginning at 7 a.m. until service time at the Cozean Chapel beginning at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at St Paul Lutheran Cemetery of Farmington, MO. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Jackson or donor's choice.
