Clifford Detring

Clifford Edward Detring of Farmington passed away on February 24, 2007, at the age of 83 years. He was born on March 25, 1923, at Libertyville, the son of the late Albert and Frieda (Schaefer) Detring. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Albert Detring, Jr, and William Detring. Mr. Detring was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he had served as an Elder. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion Post 416, Farm Bureau Board, and the St. Francois County Farmers Mutual Insurance Board. He loved hunting and farming, and especially riding and training horses. He enjoyed square dancing with his wife, Caroline, and taking brief vacations. He also loved his grandsons dearly. Mr. Detring is survived by his wife of 53 years, Caroline (Cozean) Detring, a son, David Detring and wife, Debbie, and a daughter, Susan Leonard, all of Farmington, two grandsons, Jason Detring of Tulsa, OK, and Tyler Detring of Farmington, a sister, Nadine Thomas and husband, Duane of Farmington. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends, also survive. Friends may call at the Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. on Monday, February 26, 2007. Visitation will resume at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday with a funeral service at 1 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor James King officiating. Burial will follow at Copenhagen Cemetery with military honors. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Presbyterian Hospice or the Alzheimers Association.
