Clifford Dale Simpkins

Clifford "Cliff" Dale Simpkins of Farmington passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014, at the age of 77 years. He was born on May 26, 1936, at Doniphan, MO, son of the late Clyde Simpkins and Thelma (Guess) Simpkins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, George Simpkins and a special brother-in-law, Dale Bodine. Cliff was raised in Ste. Genevieve County and went into the U. S. Army at a young age. After six years of military service he joined the U. S. Postal Service where he retired in 1991 after thirty plus years of service. He was a member of the Farmington Masonic Lodge #132, member and Past Patron of Mineral Chapter #260 Order of the Eastern Star and member and past Commander of Farmington AmVets Post #113. He was also a member of Genevieve Baptist Church. Cliff will be remembered as being an avid gardener who enjoyed sharing his produce with friends and neighbors. His beloved children and grandchildren were the light of his life and he cherished every moment spent with them. Survivors include his loving wife of 33 years, Lois Simpkins, his children, Kenneth Stout and Kathy Ohrt and husband, Steve; two grandchildren, McLean and Kalyn Ohrt; two sisters, Jeanette Bodine and Vivian Sloan and husband, Garry; and a brother, James "Jim" Simpkins. Also surviving are a host of extended family and special friends. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Friday, March 28 from 3:00 to 7:30 p.m. An Eastern Star service will be held at 6 p.m. followed by a Masonic service at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services with military honors will follow beginning at 7:15 p.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Reverend Fred Killian officiating.
