FARMINGTON - Claude Andrew Huitt, Sr. "Andy" of Doe Run, passed away May 11, 2021 at Camelot Nursing and Rehab at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 19 days. He was born January 22, 1942 at home in Caledonia to the late Claude Otto and Clara Bell (Talley) Huitt. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Christine Hudson, Helen Richards and Doris Blunt, son-in-law, Bryan Nash, brother-in-law, Jack Johnson, Niece, Susie (Johnson) Nanney and her husband, Steve Nanney. Andy was baptized into the Christian Faith at Mineral Area Baptist Church in 1993. He grew up in Doe Run and proudly served his country in the Missouri Army National Guard. His career was spent as an automotive technician. While working at Superior Pontiac Cadillac in Flat River, Missouri he received the General Motors Corporation Master Technician Award. He was revered as the Cadillac specialist in the region. After retirement he completed his G.E.D., keeping his promise to his father, which was a condition of quitting school early to join the Army National Guard. Additionally, he completed Certified Nursing Assistant training at Unitec. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, marksmanship, boating, camping and going to Meramec Caverns twice a year. He enjoyed teaching his grandson, Raymond O'Connor to handle firearms and fish. Survivors include his sisters, Ruth Maydean Johnson of Barnhart, Missouri and Mary Wells of Bismarck, Missouri; brother, Wayne (Jean Ann) Huitt of Ringwood, Oklahoma; his children, Claude Andrew Huitt, Jr. (Sherry), Gina Kearns, all of Farmington; Lisa Hahl of Festus, Melinda Barton (Eric) of Farmington and Debra Nash of Farmington; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Cozean Memorial Chapel beginning at 11 a.m. until the service time at 1 p.m. Interment will follow with military honors at Doe Run Memorial Cemetery.
