Clarence Edward Basler

FARMINGTON- Clarence Edward Basler of Farmington passed away on February 1, 2021 at his residence at the age of 97. He was born on August 3, 1923, in Kinsey, Missouri to the late Frank A. and Mary M. (Kertz) Basler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 29 years, Lina (Hofmann) Basler, and his siblings, Elizabeth A. (Basler) Wood, Leonard F. Basler, Philomena V. (Basler) Silies, Genevieve R. (Basler) Zerwig, Albert H. Basler, Cletis F. Basler, Agnes A. (Basler) Moser, Alice T. (Basler) Ringwald, and Russell V. Basler. Clarence retired from his career as a proud military veteran of the United States Army. He served duties in Vietnam and Korea and was a bronze star recipient. He was stationed in Germany the majority of his career, and that is where he met the love of his life, Lina Hofmann. After marriage, Clarence and Lina were avid travelers that included cruises and camping in many places. He was known to be a kind and wonderful man with a good soul. He was quiet, yet fun loving and enjoyed dancing. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Clarence is survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends. A private graveside service with full military honors will be held at Saint Anne Catholic Cemetery in French Village with Father Stephen Bauer officiating.
