Chester Hampton

Chester H. "Joe" Hampton, Jr. of Doe Run, passed away January 2, 2015 at the age of 67. He was born in Elvins on July 18, 1947 to the late Chester H. Hampton, Sr. and Alice (Reynolds) Hampton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Marilyn McClintock. Joe, as most knew him, was a life long resident of the area. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy and upon his return he attended Rolla-Missouri University were he obtained a degree in Aero Space Engineering. He worked for Piramal Glass (Flat River Glass) for thirty years. After retiring in 2005 he enjoyed mowing grass, both at home and for his church. He was a faithful member of Pendleton United Baptist Church where he served as treasurer for several years. His family will remember him as a quiet and intelligent man who chose his words with care. He will be sorely missed by those who loved him including his wife of 32 years, Carolyn Sue (Wampler) Hampton; his children, Larry Thomas Hampton, Holly Hampton, Shane (Brandi) Hampton and Curtis Lee (Krystal) Hampton; six grandchildren; one great grandchild on the way; three sisters, Carolyn (Roger) Bittick, Gale (Rick) Skaggs and Pam (Buck) Copeland; two brothers, Roger "Pete" (Betty) Hampton and Nelson (Cathy) Hampton; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
