FARMINGTON Charles Miller, of Farmington, passed away September 26, 2017 at his home at the age of 93. He was born on January 18, 1924 to the late Samuel and Thelma (Hamor) Miller. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Christine R. (Shinn) Miller in 2011; an infant son, Samuel George and two siblings, Alethea Ward and S. Earl Miller. He was also preceded in death by his beloved maternal grandmother , Mary Elizabeth Hamor who was very dear to him and who taught him many life lessons.
Charles proudly served in the Army Air Corps where he guarded prisoners in the stockade and worked in the preparation of meals as well. Upon his return to civilian life, he worked pouring basements for Brockmiller Construction and he was also employed for Mississippi Lime where he retired after 40 years of employment. Charles was a hard worker all of his life and always farmed as well. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and most of all for being a person of true integrity who helped everyone.
Surviving are two daughters, Christy Cash and Cindy (Don) Roussin, both of Farmington; four grandchildren, Kelly Cash (Mark) Hotop of Perryville, Kim Cash (Chris) Carroll of Festus, Erica Roussin (Larry) Furry of Park Hills and Luke Roussin and wife, Megan, of Farmington; eight great grandchildren, Courtney, Bittany, Dustin, Taylor, Dane, Charley, Miller and Jude; one great great granddaughter, Anna Grace who, to Charles great delight, completed his five generation family. Also surviving is his brother, A. J. Miller of Farmington; a very loving care giver, Francis Pipkin; two sisters-in-law, Pauline Harrington of Farmington and Barbara "Bobby" Shinn of Kirkwood; and nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Friday, September 29, beginning at 7 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens. Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. Paul Lutheran School or Kindred Hospice.
