FARMINGTON Charles Albert Strauser of Farmington passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at NHC Nursing and Rehab of Desloge at the age of 83. He was born in Spring Bluff, Missouri on October 26, 1939, to the late Charles Oscar Strauser and Edna Mabel (ODell) Strauser. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha and Marie and a stepson, Gary McDaniel. Charles grew up around the Sullivan, Missouri area where he attended school. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country. He was a paratrooper stationed at Fort Bragg and spent part of his military time in the Northeastern United States as well. Charles enjoyed a career as a truck driver. He spent much of his driving career with United Van Lines and was a highly decorated and respected driver with over a million miles accident free. He retired from truck driving in his early 70s and enjoyed volunteering at the Banning, California police department where he lived at the time. In his spare time, he was a ham radio operator. Being an avid coffee drinker, he seldom ever passed up a Starbucks Coffee Shop. He was ornery and stubborn as well as quick-witted. At the same time he will be remembered for his gentleness and easy-going personality. He was always quick to offer a hand to take care of his loved ones however he could. Survivors include his loving wife, Betty (Gibson) Strauser; daughter, Mandy (Mike) Herod; stepdaughter, Darla Ferguson; three grandchildren, Kylee (Cole) Parker, Paige Allison and Casper Allison; a brother, David Strauser and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
