Chalmer Leo "Hank" Forsythe

July 2, 1933 — January 6, 2017

FARMINGTON Chalmer Leo "Hank" Forsythe of Farmington passed away Friday, January 6, 2017 at his residence at the age of 83 years. He was born on July 2, 1933 at Esther son of the late Melvin Joseph "Simon" and Ina Mae (Reese) Forsythe. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother William Earl Forsythe.

Hank proudly served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. Following his time in the service he returned to the Lead Belt and went to work for St. Joe Lead and the Gifford Lumber Company and then later, along with his cousin, started Forsythe & Reese Builders and built houses and commercial properties around the area. In 1980, Hank acccepted a position as a construction superintendent with Brockmiller Construction and was the job superintendent on numerous building projects in the Farmington area including schools, hospitals and municipal buildings with one of his last large project being to supervise the building of the Farmngton Civic Center.

He was a member of Carpenter's Union Local 1795 and in his spare time he enjoyed fishing with the East Ozark Bass Club and every Thursday morning with the Prune Juice Club from Plank Road Inn. After retirement, Hank enjoyed raising Angus cattle and traveling with Delorse and their dear friends, Jim and Delores Plummer, Lynn and Pat McCarty, Lloyd and Jetty Reese, Bill and Chloe Martin and Willard and Mary Hager.

He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him including his wife of 63 years, Delorse Ann (Duncan) Forsythe of Farmington, four sons, Danny (& Michelle) Forsythe of Farmington, Randy (& Vicki) Forsythe of Farmington, Brett (& Patti) Forsythe of Lake Ozark, and Doug (& Sarah) Forsythe of Farmington, eight grandchildren, Jason (& Kimmy) Forsythe of Carthage, Andria (& Travis) Hodge of Eldon, Lindsey Forsythe (& Scott Clithro) of St. Louis, Justin (& Heather) Forsythe of Jefferson City, Jesse (& Katlyn) Forsythe of Farmington, Hannah Forsythe of St. Louis, Terri Forsythe of Eldon, and Conner Forsythe of Farmington, two great-grandchildren, Leo Clithro and Lane Forsythe, two sisters, Ada Pyatt of Richmond, Kentucky and Doris (& Bob) Roth of Potosi and two brothers, Jim (& Arlene) Forsythe of Ozark and Don (& Connie) Forsythe of Branson. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends and nieghbors.

Friends may call at the Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 5- 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel on Wednesday with the Reverend Deron Boyer officiating. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Farmington Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry.
