Cecil J. Shoemake of Doe Run passed away on May 25, 2010, at St. Louis University Hospital, at the age of 94 years. He was born on October 15, 1915, in Clubb, MO. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alice, his son-in-law, Kenneth Gilley and grandson, Keith Gilley. Mr. Shoemake was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Army. He cherished his family, loved his farm, nature, animals, good friends, and playing and singing country music. His sense of humor and zest for life were an inspiration to his family and friends. He is survived by his three children, his daughter, Wilma Gilley; his son, Jim and his wife, Rita; his son, Bob and his wife, Mary; nine grandchildren, and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy will provide comfort and strength to his family and friends. The family will receive friends at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 28. Visitation will resume on Saturday, May 29, at 7 a.m. with the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Cozean Chapel. Burial will follow at Doe Run Memorial Cemetery.
