Carolyn Jean Braun

July 29, 1937 — December 21, 2014

Carolyn Jean (Schirmer) Braun passed away Sunday, December 21, 2014 at the Golden Pond Communities in Winter Garden, FL at the age of 77. She was born July 29, 1937 in E. St. Louis, IL, daughter of the late Joseph and Mildred (Kelly) Schirmer. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph A. Braun in December 2005. Carolyn was married to the love of her life for 49 years and was a loving mother of two children. Her life revolved around her family and several beloved pets who she loved dearly. She loved to be outside, work with her flowers, read, and do all types of crafts and floral arrangements. She equally loved to dance, camp, fish, and boat. Her life took her from IL as a child to FL, CA, and TX as an Air Force wife. She and her family settled in Plano, TX and many years later she moved to Missouri to retire. After 22 years she moved and spent the last two years of her life with her daughter in Ocoee, FL, days filled with quality mother/daughter time, cruises to Hawaii and the Bahamas and other special places. As a teenager she was a member of Job's Daughters in E. St. Louis, IL and the Haylofters. She was a Christian and took great comfort in knowing where she would be when her time came. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her including her daughter Teri Lynn (Braun) Castleberry of Ocoee, FL, her son Joseph (& Laurie) Braun II of Farmington, MO, five grandchildren, Jeremy (& Rachel) Castleberry of Ocoee, FL and Lauren & Michael Braun of Farmington, MO, Billy Ames of Park Hills, MO, and Katie (& Adam) Weiss of Farmington, MO, three great-grandchildren, Abigail Castleberry of Ocoee, FL, and Ethan & Logan Weiss of Farmington, MO and one special aunt, Evelyn Kelly of Farmington, MO, as well as numerous other relatives, dear friends, caregivers, and neighbors. Friends may call on Friday, December 26, 2014 from 5-8 pm at the Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory. Visitation will resume Saturday after 7 a.m. and continue until the time of the service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Pastor Dr. Rodney Pensel officiating. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens. Memorials, if desired, may be made to donor's choice.
