C. Victor Vic Head departed this life on Thursday, September 23, 2010, at his Farmington residence at the age of 86 years, 10 months, and 17 days. He was born on November 6, 1923, at Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Charles M. and Pearl (Johnson) Head. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Charles Matthew Liddell, two brothers, Virgil Head and Dale Head, and three sisters, Glenda Stout, Ina Boesch, and Ada Winkler. At age 19, Vic enlisted in the Navy and proudly served his country as a coxswain stationed at the Marshall Islands during WWII. On July 6, 1946 he married Virginia Broker at Fredericktown. Vic and Virginia farmed in the Whitewater community for several years before moving to Farmington where Vic was employed as an Electrician at the Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center for 19 1/2 years, retiring in 1985. In 1967 Vic and Virginia became blessed with parenthood upon the adoption of their two children Marla and Bruce. Vic was baptized at Whitewater Christian Church and made his confession of faith in 1955. He served as a Deacon and Elder while a member of Whitewater Christian Church. After moving to Farmington Vic became an active and faithful member of the Farmington First Christian Church where he was again elected to be a Deacon and Elder and served in that capacity until his health no longer allowed him to do so. He was also an active member of American Legion Post 416. After retirement he found many things to keep himself busy most of the time, particularly his vegetable garden. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling. Vic will be missed by all those who knew and loved him, that includes his wife of 64 years, Virginia Ginny Head of Farmington, a daughter, Marla Meyer of Park Hills, a son, Bruce Head of Farmington, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a brother, Leeman Head and wife Wilma of Perryville, and two sisters, Lenora Porter of Warrenton and Pat Gentry of Omaha, NE. Many other relatives and friends also survive. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. on Monday September 27, 2010. Visitation will resume on Tuesday from 7 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Cozean Chapel with the Rev. Dale Berck officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Farmington First Christian Church.
