Burton Pfeifer

August 30, 1919 — May 18, 2006

Burton Pfeifer of Farmington passed away on May 18, 2006 at Camelot Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 86 years. He was born on August 30, 1919 at Coffman, the son of the late Emmet Pfeifer and Anna (Holland) Nessel. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Davis and Sterling, and daughter, Donna Rariden. Before his retirement, Mr. Pfeifer was employed as a painter at the SEMO Mental Health Center, where he also served as a volunteer fireman. He was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church, where he provided his own car as a volunteer church taxi driver. He was a member of Herwig-Hunt Lodge # 434 of the Knights of Pythias, where he served for many years as supervisor of the K. of P. cemetery. During World War II, Mr. Pfeifer served his country as a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a long-time member of the American Legion Post 416 of Farmington. His family loved him devotedly and will miss him with all their hearts. That includes his wife of 44 years Pauline (Overall) Pfeifer and six daughters, Sharon Warden of Arnold, Paula Gordan (Lesley) of Pickneyville, IL. Resa Robinson of Festus, Jhena Copeland (Steve) of Farmington, Beth Layton (Tom) of Ste, Genevieve, and Diana Wolf (Russell) of Orangeburg, SC, one son, Medwick Pfiefer (Terri) of Oblong, IL and one brother, Norman Pfeifer (Wanda) of St. Louis, 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. American Legion services will be held on Sunday at 7 p.m.
