Burkett Miller

FARMINGTON Burkett "Burk" Randolph Miller of Farmington passed away December 25, 2017 at Parkland Health Center in Farmington at the age of 89. He was born October 14, 1928 near Black, Missouri to the late Willard Washington Miller and Nellie M. (Keith) Miller. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Miller on December 12, 2012; three sisters, Berneva Havard, Barbara Weeks and an infant sister, Janelle Miller; a brother, Johnnie Miller and his former wife and mother of his children, Doris June Miller.

Burk, as most knew him, proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. After his military service he was employed for 38 years as a fork lift driver with Kroger. To say that Burk enjoyed hunting and fishing would be an understatement. His family would strongly agree that he was a "Great Dad and Grand-Dad". His grandchildren were his pride and joy.

Survivors include his son, Robert "Bob" (Melissa) Miller of Jefferson City; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren with two more on the way; a brother, Rondel (Alma) Miller; and a sister, Freda Huston. He also leaves behind his beloved nieces and nephews, who he was close to as well as other extended family.

Visitation will be held at the Mount Pleasant United Baptist Church near Black on Friday, December 29, 2017 beginning at 1 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Scott Jones officiating. Interment will follow with military honors in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
