FARMINGTON – Bonnie V. Thompson of Farmington passed into eternal rest on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Gardenview Care Center in St. Louis at the age of 85. She was born on May 28, 1939, to the late Marion Elza Hammers and Mamie E. (Harrington) Hammers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
Bonnie grew up in rural Ste. Genevieve County and graduated from Farmington High School. She married the love of her life, Charles Eugene “Gene” Thompson, and for many years assisted with his insurance business. Bonnie very much enjoyed children. She was a true outdoors person who liked to garden and do yard work; and she loved to walk. For most of her life, Bonnie collected dolls She loved to make trips to go antiquing in the Southern States.
Bonnie and her husband, Gene, were longtime, faithful members of the Farmington First Christian Church. Her two boys were her life. Her legacy will be the unconditional love she had for her children and grandchildren throughout her life.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years Charles “Gene” Thompson; two sons, Daniel L. (Lori) Thompson and Jeffery D. (Valarie) Thompson; grandchildren, Shawn Ross Thompson, Nicole Elizabeth Brown; Zackary Taylor Thompson, and Makayla Kristen O'Halloran; great- grandchildren Marky Brown and baby girl, Kate Thompson on the way. She is also survived by one sister, Janet.
Visitation will be held at Cozean Memorial Chapel in Farmington at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Alan Berry officiating.
