PARK HILLS Bobby Charles Strickland, of Park Hills, passed away at St. Anthony's Medical Center on August 28, 2016 at the age of 74. He was born in Honeygrove, Texas on February 6, 1942 to the late Raymond Strickland and Doris (Jones) Strickland. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra Strickland.
Bobby was a hero and best friend to his children and a wonderful husband to his two wives. With many difficulties due to his lack of vision, he still succeeded in many things that most people said would be impossible. Among other things, he was a real estate agent, rebuilt automatic transmissions (which he attended trade school to learn), and he was a salesman. A great man of faith, Bobby was also an ordained minister.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila (King) Strickland; sons, Derold Charles (Tracy) Strickland of Collinsville, IL, Wesley Raymond Strickland of Zigler, IL and James Willard (Claire) Stickland of Mitchell, IL; a step-son, Jack Johnson of Doe Run; twelve grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Roy Thomas (Donna) Strickland of Fairview Heights, IL and Delbert Ray (Cindy) Strickland of Caseyville, IL.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Farmington at 1 p.m. with Rev. Don Mitchell officiating.
