Billy Menard Dickerson

FARMINGTON Billy M. Dickerson of Farmington passed away August 17, 2019 at Presbyterian Manor at the age of 94. He was born at Winnfield, Louisiana on July 8, 1925 to the late Olan and Hannah (Porter) Dickerson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Frankie Ann (Allen) Dickerson, whom he married on December 16, 1945; two brothers, Olan Dickerson, Jr. and Bobby Dickerson. A member of the "greatest generation", Billy was a WWII veteran as he enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and retired as a Chief Petty Officer in 1963. During his Navy career he was assigned to Naval Aviation on carriers and was also stationed in Kodiak, AK; Pensacola, FL; Providence, RI; San Diego, CA; Honolulu, HI and Memphis TN. After his retirement from the Navy, the family lived in Sikeston, Missouri where he worked for 20 years as a vocational electronics instructor for the Sikeston Public School system. Billys hobbies were hunting and fishing, especially at his beloved Saline Lake in Winn Parish. Survivors include a daughter, Dianne Dickerson of Farmington and a son Bill W. (Juliet) Dickerson of Prairie Village, KS; grandchildren, Alison (Wayne) Sheets of Farmington, Sally Dickerson of Brooklyn, NY, Shannon (Mike) Davis of Sikeston and Blake (Erin) Dickerson of Kansas City; and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Elsie Allen of Winnfield, LA and Mrs. Betty Dickerson Burns of Shreveport, LA. There are also seven great grandchildren who survive. Private family graveside services are scheduled for a later date to be held at the Jerusalem Cemetery in Winnfield, LA.
