FARMINGTON - Billy G. Stephens, 78, of Farmington passed away Saturday, February 28 at Mercy Jefferson Hospital. He was born February 27, 1937, to the late Lee and Elsie Stephens in Powhatan, Arkansas. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Delayne "Dee" Stephens in 2011; two sons, Kenny Stephens and Michael Stephens. After high school graduation, Billy entered the United States Air Force as a career. While serving, Billy received two Good Conduct Medals, two awards for Outstanding Unit and three Longevity Service Award Ribbons. After retirement from the Air Force he went to work as a materials manager for the Alaska Hospital and Medical Center in Anchorage. For the past thirteen years Billy lived in Farmington. He was a member of the local AMVETS. He truly had a passion for the American Veterans and supporting efforts for their benefit. In his spare time he very much enjoyed riding his cycle with friends. Survivors include his children, Tami (Paul) Helms of Mindenmines, MO; Wayne (Jennie) Stephens of Lewiston, CA; and Laurie Chard of the state of Arizona; several grandchildren; a sister, Yvonne; and a sister-in-law, Connie Neece of Farmington. Several other extended family members also survive. A memorial celebration of life will be held at the AMVETS in Farmington on Friday, March 6 from 12 noon to 6 p.m. During the Celebration of Life there will be a Military Honors Service beginning at 1 p.m. View the online obituary and share your memories and condolences at cozeanfuneralhome.com.
